Nantwich, CW5 5HDSchool Year:2006-2007
Date:27 February 2007
Students in Year 7 of this specialist status college for the arts, participated in a Sonic Postcards project over 5 weeks at the start of 2007. Workshop Leader, Helena Gough, facilitated the sessions, alongside the pupils' geography teacher. The project focused on Geography with lots of time spent on sound maps and thinking about the local area around the school. The students visited the town centre and recorded sounds from shops, cafes, key cutters, the church and a variety of other locations. In the afternoon, we visited the canal and had the opportunity to talk to the canalboat makers and record the sounds of the machinery and engines. The final class composition features a few of these recordings and invites the listener on a "mission' to listen!
